Dontaye’s Vision

MyVision.png

As Mayor of Sandy Springs, I will work to:

Increase ethics, transparency, and inclusivity within city government.

Support small businesses, expand minority business ownership and participation, and foster economic opportunities within the city.

Ensure availability of affordable and equitable housing choices for all residents of Sandy Springs.

Prioritize the needs of our schools in order to better prepare our children for the future.

Maintain public safety, increase public trust, and improve the community’s relationship with police.

Provide much-needed infrastructure to ease the commute for working families.

Implement traffic-calming measures and support alternative means of transportation to alleviate congestion.

Balance the city’s budget by making smart, responsible investments.

Build upon our community’s character and our quality of life.

My Priorities

  • Affordable Housing

Our teachers, first responders, and working class Georgians should be able to afford to live in the city they serve. The COVID-19 pandemic exposed the need to further support renters and close resource gaps.

  • Sustainable Development

New development and redevelopment plans must safeguard historic communities and cultures, while creating affordable housing options for our residents. We need to listen to communities and consider how they would like their community developed.

  • Transportation

Investing in smart transportation solutions is key to Sandy Springs’ continued success. Any transportation plan must include an efficient system for moving residents and visitors around the city, expanded bike lanes, walking trails, and pedestrian-friendly areas to help get people out of their cars for short trips.

  • Schools

By investing in our children, we are investing in the future. Sandy Springs has great public schools, but they need to be supported. I believe each student deserves to learn in a safe and effective learning environment.

  • Diversity, Inclusion & Equity

By supporting and encouraging more minority-owned businesses, we can promote economic growth and better represent the growing and diverse population of Sandy Springs.

  • Infrastructure

Access to a clean and reliable water source is an issue of public safety and it’s time for us to invest in this important infrastructure. We must diversify water sources in order to decrease our dependency on Atlanta and secure a sufficient water supply for the people of Sandy Springs.
